Doralea “Dee” Pepper, 91, of Southern Shores, NC, went to be with her Lord on June 11, 2025. Dee was born August 19, 1933, in Passaic, NJ, to Andrew and Elsie Doychak. Growing up in New Jersey, Dee earned her bachelor’s degree from Montclair State Teachers’ College and later her master’s degree from Patterson State College. She taught elementary school for 22 years at the Ramapo Central School District in Suffern, NY, before retiring. She moved to Southern Shores in 1997, where she pursued an unanticipated, but much enjoyed, interest in Outer Banks real estate.

In retirement, Dee also enjoyed raising her beagles, traveling, reading, and volunteering at Hotline. She was an active member of the Holy Redeemer by the Sea Catholic Church, Ladies by the Sea, and the Red Hat Society. Her final wishes were to express her love for her family.

Dee was preceded in death by her parents and her late husband, William Pepper. She is survived by her four children, Kathy Davieds, Gwen Wright, Robert Pepper and his wife Mi Ae, David Pepper and his wife Lisa; her seven grandchildren, Justin Pepper, Jeremey Wright, Jason Wright, Shauna Wright, David Pepper, Becky Pepper, and Tina Pepper; her sister, Denise; and her beloved 17 year old beagle Penny.

Friends may visit with the family at Gallop Funeral Services Chapel in Nags Head, NC, on Sunday, June 22, 2025 from 4 to 6pm. A memorial mass will be held for her at Holy Redeemer by the Sea in Kitty Hawk, NC, on Monday, June 23, 2025 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, Dee requested that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (stjude.org). Please leave a message of comfort at gallopfuneralservices.com. Gallop Funeral Services, Inc. was entrusted with arrangements.
